La Casa De Mi Padre does not merely raise children, but works to RESTORE FAMILIES.

By Kathryn Winn, Family Program Coordinator

Today we began a two part staff training for our child care team, teaching them about the transitions and changing roles in the family program.

Because our main goal is not merely to raise children, but to restore families, our key question to family members is now, “What do you need to do differently in order for reunification to occur?”

The second part of the training will take place next Friday and be much more hands on.

We will actually teach our staff how to perform a family assessment (genogram) and how to relate strategically with the family members.  The house parents and tios and tias were very enthusiastic about the changes and renewed their commitment to continually work toward family restoration.
