A special project!

La Casa was privileged to have a visit from North Point Community Church last week. This group came with the desire in their hearts of building a relationship with our ministry.

We truly experienced the unity and the real meaning of work as the “body of Christ” shared talents and efforts to paint, make repairs, and furnish the common areas in our Transition Home. They diligently worked to create comfortable and peaceful spaces for our young adults in which to interact and to call home.  Our young adults were able to work side-by-side with the team and shared sweet fellowship getting to know one another.  They shared many laughs as well as their hopes and dreams.

The team also hosted two afternoons of crafts and play with our other children.  Our kids enjoyed challenging the “gringos” to a game of soccer, making friendship bracelets, painting tote bags, and finger painting.

We are so blessed to have had this visit from North Point; they felt like family. The team embraced our vision and encouraged us in our work. Thank you, North Point, for your humble, serving hearts and the amazing love of God shown to La Casa de mi Padre!

Un proyecto especial!

 

La semana pasada, La Casa tuvo el privilegio de tener la visita de North Point Community Church. Este grupo nos visitó con el deseo en sus corazones de construir  una relación de amistad con nuestro ministerio.

Con su visita experimentamos unidad y el verdadero significado de trabajar como “el cuerpo de Cristo”, uniendo talentos y esfuerzos para un proyecto especial: pintar, hacer reparaciones y  amueblar las áreas comunes en nuestra Casa de Transición. Este grupo trabajó de forma diligente para crear espacios cómodos y tranquilos para  que nuestros jóvenes tengan la oportunidad de desenvolverse y sentirse como en casa. Nuestros jóvenes trabajaron lado a lado con el grupo, conociéndose mejor y  compartiendo risas, sueños y metas.

El grupo también dedicó dos tardes para hacer manualidades y juegos con nuestros niños más pequeños. Nuestros chicos disfrutaron de retar a los “gringos” en un partido de fútbol. También hicieron brazaletes, decoraron carteras con pinturas y temperas.

Hemos sido muy bendecidos al recibir esta visita de North Point, les consideramos nuestra familia. Han abrazado nuestra visión y nos animaron en nuestro trabajo. ¡Gracias North Point por su humildad, corazones serviciales y el increíble amor de Dios para La Casa de mi Padre!

My 3rd mission trip to La Casa

July 9th was my third time in three years to return to La Casa de mi Padre. As I sat on the plane, my usual excitement was not there and I found that surprising. I really wanted to see all the kids and see how they had changed this past year, and the staff.

But as soon as the plane landed in San Salvador, my excitement grew.  After lunch we headed to La Finca and I was returning to a place that I so enjoy. Seeing the beautiful pavillion I worked on last August was great, but seeing all the kids having a fun time was the best part. They love playing soccer, riding horses, and exploring the outdoors. Regardless of what we did during the week–working at Gregoria’s home, going to CIPI, feeding the homeless, listening to the kids sing at

Union Church, or playing volleyball, God was there. He provided what was needed, kept us safe in our travels, and blessed our time with the kids.

La Casa is such a loving, caring place. Not only for those that live and work there, but for those of us that get to visit. Everyone that is in the La Casa family is to be commended because it is obvious the kids really care about each other. They truly show what being a family is all about, and God is the center of that family. May He continually bless all the work being done for His children, and may I have the privilege of returning to La Casa.

Mi 3er viaje misionero a La Casa.

El 9 de Julio fue la tercera vez, en tres años, que regresé a La Casa de mi Padre. Mientras volaba para El Salvador, no sentí el entusiasmo usual y eso me pareció extraño. Realmente quería ver al personal, ver a los niños y cómo habían cambiado el ultimo año. Sin embargo, tan pronto como aterrizamos, mi entusiasmo aumentó.

Después del almuerzo nos dirigimos a La Finca, un lugar que disfruto mucho. Ver el área de usos multiples (pavilion, en Inglés), lugar que ayudé a construir en agosto del año pasad, fue increíble; pero ver a todos los niños de La Casa diviritiéndose fue la mejor parte. A ellos les encanta jugar futbol, montar a caballo y explorar por todos lados. Independientemente, de lo que hicimos durante la semana -trabajar en la casa de Gregoria en Tejutla, visitar el CIPI, llevar comida a los indigentes, escuchar a los niños cantando en la iglesia o jugando volleyball-, ¡Dios estuvo en todo! El proveyó de lo que necesitamos, nos protegió en nuestros viajes de un lado a otro y bendijo nuestro tiempo con los niños.

La Casa es un lugar tan especial, no solo para aquéllos que viven y trabajan allí, sino para aquellas personas que como nosotros, vienen de visita. Todos los que pertenecen a la familia de La Casa son dignos de admiración porque salta a la vista cómo los niños se preocupan los unos por los otros. Ellos realmente demuestran lo que una familia es y Dios es el centro de esa familia. Que el Señor continue bendiciendo todo el trabajo que se hace por Sus niños. Espero que El me conceda el privilegio de volver a La Casa.

La Casa is going through a lot of changes these days, as we are going through a transition time. We started changing the office space and reorganizing everything. We were able to purchase some new furniture to make the offices feel cozier and more adequate to our current needs.

Last week some of our dear friends from Chestnut Mountain in Atlanta visited La Casa to help us reorganize a new office space. Dave Smith, his daughter Kacie and Denise Johnson worked very hard building a separation wall for the child care team’s new office. They purchased all the materials and put their building skills to the test!

The last day they were here, all the staff at La Casa had breakfast with them. They made some “pupusas” (a typical food in El Salvador) and we all shared a wonderful time together just to let them know how grateful we were for dedicating time and resources to work with us.

The team and the children at La Casa feel privileged to have so many people, churches and other organizations caring for us through giving, praying and visiting. Thank you all for believing and supporting our work with children and families in so many different ways!

La Casa está pasando por muchos cambios estos días, ya que estamos en época de transición. Comenzamos cambiando los espacios de oficinas y reorganizando todo. Pudimos comprar algunos muebles nuevos y así hacer las oficinas un poco más acogedoras y mejor adecuadas a nuestras necesidades actuales.

La semana pasada nuestros queridos amigos de Chestnut Mountain en Atlanta visitaron La Casa para ayudarnos a reorganizar nuevos espacios para las oficinas. Dave Smith, su hija Kacie y Denise Johnson trabajaron muy duro construyendo una division para el equipo de cuido de niños. Compraron todos los materiales ¡y pusieron a prueba sus habilidades para construir!

El ultimo día que estuvieron aquí, todo el personal de La Casa desayunamos con ellos. Nuestros amigos hicieron algunas pupusas y todos compartimos un muy buen tiempo juntos. Todo eso para hacerles saber lo agradecidos que estábamos por dedicar tiempo y recursos para trabajar con nosotros.

El equipo y los niños de La Casa nos sentimos privilegiados de tener tantas personas, iglesias y otras organizaciones que se interesan por nosotros dando, orando y visitándonos. ¡Gracias por creer y por apoyar nuestro trabajo con los niños y sus familias en formas tan variadas!
