La Casa has a new logo!

This year La Casa de mi Padre celebrates its tenth year anniversary! It is a perfect time for a new look, so we have created a new logotype that reflects the heart and vision of La Casa. Soon you will be able to see it displayed in a variety of ways including social media sites, our website, and other means of communication.

Each element has a special meaning:

The child reflects our work with children. The color green represents the natural surroundings of our future home site. The blue symbolizes security and confidence. The tree is a representation of the fruit we hope to see in each of the children as they grow. Our roots are grounded in our Father’s love; and even when the wind blows hard, we pray that our children will have the courage to face the challenges that rise.  We also pray that each child will grow in the Lord’s love as the seeds of gratitude, love and forgiveness germinate in their lives.

Our new logo was inspired on this Bible verse:

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7 (NLT)

¡La Casa tiene nuevo logo!

¡Este año La Casa de mi Padre cumple su décimo aniversario! Es el tiempo perfecto para una nueva imagen, por esta razón hemos creado un nuevo logo que refleja el corazón y la visión de La Casa. Pronto podrán verlo en redes sociales, nuestro Sitio Web y en otros materiales de comunicación.

Cada elemento tiene un significado especial:

El niño transmite que somos una organización que trabaja para la niñez. El color verde representa el entorno natural de nuestro hogar en el futuro. El azul simboliza seguridad y confianza. El árbol  es una representación de los frutos que esperamos ver en cada uno de los niños mientras van creciendo. Nuestras raíces están cimentadas en el amor de nuestro Padre; aunque el viento sople con fuerza, oramos para que nuestros niños tengan el coraje para enfrentar los retos de la vida. También oramos para que cada niño crezca en el amor del Señor, es así como llegarán a germinar semillas de agradecimiento, amor y perdón.

Nuestro nuevo logo fue inspirado en este versículo:

“Arraigados y sobreedificados en él, y confirmados en la fe, así como habéis sido enseñados, abundando en acciones de gracias.” Colosenses 2:7 (RVR1960)

Welcome Noris!

Noris, Social Worker, La Casa de mi Padre

Have you ever wanted to meet an energetic, enthusiastic, go-getter, hot-on-the-trail detective, and friend?  If so, you will have to meet our long prayed for social worker, Noris.  She came alongside the ministry at the beginning of January; and after just a short time, she has gained the love and confidence of those around her.  She is not afraid to tackle a new task, even if the road ahead seems bumpy.  But above all, she is a true friend who genuinely cares about others.  She is definitely “in her element”!

Noris shares: “I have a calling from God, and I am committed to Him. I appreciate the opportunity that I have to work with the children at La Casa and their families. I’ve not been here long, but I have already had two experiences that have captivated my heart. The first experience was following-up on Miguel, who just recently returned home after living at La Casa for eight years. I’ve been in communication with the family daily and have also talked with his school, people in the community and church. I’m committed to walking with them through this transition.

The second experience is with Jenny, the sister of one of our children.  She is a young mother expecting her third child. Her pregnancy has been very complicated, so I’ve walked alongside her through some difficult times. I took her to the doctor, and we paid for an ultrasound to see how the baby was doing.  By just being there and showing her we care, I’ve begun to win her confidence and friendship. My goal is to nurture family relationships. As I began this new journey, God showed me some words to encourage me in Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Please continue to pray for our families and for Noris as we all bond closer to each other and closer to Him!  Welcome aboard, Noris!

¡Bienvenida Noris!

Noris con algunos de los familiares

¿Alguna vez conocieron a una persona amigable, con mucha energía, emprendedora, que le encanta buscar respuestas como una detective? Si no la han conocido, tienen que conocer a nuestra nueva Trabajadora Social Noris. Estuvimos orando mucho tiempo por ella. Noris es parte de La Casa desde principios de enero y, después de un corto tiempo, se ganó el amor y la confianza de todos los que la rodean. A pesar de que el camino a enfrentar esté lleno de baches, Noris no tiene temor de emprender nuevos retos. Ser una amiga verdadera que le encanta cuidar de los demás es su mejor cualidad. ¡Ella definitivamente  está “en su salsa”!

Noris nos comparte: “Tengo un llamado y un compromiso con Dios y valoro mucho la oportunidad que tengo de trabajar con los niños y sus familias.  Tengo poco tiempo de estar trabajando en La Casa, pero ya tuve dos experiencias que han cautivado mi corazón. La primera es poder darle seguimiento al caso de Miguel, uno de nuestros chicos que regresó a vivir con su mamá después de ocho años de haber estado en La Casa. He estado en comunicación con su familia diariamente, comunicándome con su nueva escuela, con personas de su comunidad e Iglesia. Me he comprometido en apoyarle durante esta transición.

La segunda experiencia es con Jenny, hermana de uno de nuestros chicos. Ella es una joven madre que está esperando a su tercer hijo, ha tenido un embarazo muy complicado; es por tal razón que la he acompañado durante momentos muy difíciles. La llevé a pasar consulta y le sacamos una ultrasonografía para ver cómo estaba el bebé. Al estar con ella en esos momentos, pude demostrarle que nos importa su salud y he comenzado a ganarme su confianza y amistad. Ese es mi objetivo, nutrir las relaciones con la familia de cada niño.

Al comenzar esta nueva jornada en mi vida, Dios me ha dado una palabra de ánimo en Josué 1:9 “Mira a que te mando que te esfuerces y seas valiente, no temas ni desmayes porque Jehová tu Dios estará contigo donde quiera que vayas”.

Continúen orando por  las familias de nuestros niños, por Noris y para fortalecer nuestra relación entre nosotros y con Dios ¡Bienvenida a bordo Noris!

A friend

Wilfredo on his way to do some errands

While working as a bus driver in public transportation for ten years, I yearned for an opportunity to work at a place like La Casa de mi Padre. While studying to be a Bible teacher at the Bible Institute, I met a lady who was working for La Casa. She told me that there was an opening for a driver. After several interviews, the Lord answered my prayers and gave me this wonderful job.

My daily routine starts at 6:00 A.M. driving the children to five different schools. Teachers often pass on messages, grades, or recommendations for me to relay back to the house parents.  I also run errands to the bank, pay bills, and other administrative tasks during my day. Children often sit next to me during this time, which gives me the opportunity to interact them one on one.

Being a Youth Pastor at church, I love being able to serve in a pastoral role at La Casa while I am driving.  Sometimes the children open up their hearts. They may talk to me about painful times, like when they lose a relative. It’s when they are feeling alone and sad that I have the opportunity to pray for them, give advise, and offer words of encouragement.

What I like the most is when they share their dreams with me. The little ones tell me about wanting to become firefighters and nurses. One day, one of the children told me that he would like to be a police officer because he wants to capture those who killed his brother. This caught my attention and made me realize that some of them are still working through the healing process. I want to encourage the people that read this blog to pray for our children. Pray that God restores the hearts of those that still have resentment.

Don’t get me wrong, not everything is sad, I have also seen great changes in so many of the children.  It brings great satisfaction to watch God work in their lives. Definitely, my job is not just being a driver; I see myself as a friend that listens and encourages our children.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Un amigo

Wilfredo siempre tiene ayuda para revisar los vehículos

Durante el tiempo que estuve trabajando en el transporte público como motorista, añoré la oportunidad de trabajar en un lugar como La Casa de mi Padre. Mientras estudiaba Profesorado en Biblia en el Instituto Biblíco conocí a una señora que trabajaba para La Casa, ella me comentó que había una oportunidad para trabajar como motorista, después de muchas entrevistas, el Señor contestó mis oraciones y me dió este hermoso trabajo.

Mi rutina diaria comienza a las 6:00 a.m. llevo a los niños a cinco colegios diferentes, muchas veces los maestros me dan mensajes, calificaciones, o recomendaciones para que yo lleve toda esta información a los padres de hogar. También me encargo de ir a los bancos, pagar recibos y otras tareas administrativas durante el día. Los chicos frecuentemente se sientan a mi lado mientras hago el recorrido, esto me da la oportunidad de interactuar con ellos más de cerca.

Soy Pastor de jóvenes en mi Iglesia, por lo tanto, me encanta servir en un rol pastoral mientras trabajo como motorista en La Casa. En algunas ocasiones los niños abren sus corazones conmigo, muchas veces quieren hablar de situaciones dolorosas como cuando ha fallecido un pariente, es entonces cuando se sienten solos y tristes que tengo la oportunidad de orar por ellos, darles un consejo y ofrecerles palabras de ánimo.

Lo que más me gusta es cuando me comparten sus sueños, los chicos más pequeños sueñan con ser bomberos o enfermeras. Un día, uno de ellos me dijo que cuando fuera grande quería ser Policía para poder capturar a aquellos que mataron a su hermano. Esto me llamó la atención y me dice que muchos de nuestros niños todavía necesitan sanar su corazón, es por eso que quiero animar a todas esas personas que leen este blog a que oren por nuestros chicos, oren para que Dios restaure los corazones de aquellos que todavía guardan algún resentimiento.

Sin embargo, no todo es triste, también he visto grandes cambios en muchos de los niños, esto me da una gran satisfacción al ver el trabajo de Dios en sus vidas. Definitivamente, mi trabajo implica ser más que un motorista, también soy un amigo que escucha y alienta a nuestros niños.
